This song does what country music does best, it tells a story that people can relate to on various, personal levels. My favorite from this offering was a touching, gentle song entitled, I believe, Metropolis. While I confess I’m not a fan of Adkins, I’ve liked just about everything I’ve heard of his, and his stage delivery did not let his studio work down in the least.Īfter his show was well underway, Trace treated the audience to some of the new songs off his recent “Songs About Me” collection. Ronnie Milsaps’ hit Stranger in My House and Alan Jackson’s Blues Man were well served by Adkin’s limited range, but rich, resonant baritone. In fact, Adkins' show contained a good number of his previous hits, including More, Ain’t No Thinking Thing, Every Light in the House is On, and my personal favorite, Something Turned on at Home.Īfter warming up the Riverbend crowd with some of his hits, Trace performed a couple of cover tunes. Thursday evening was no exception and the crowd was singing along with every song the band played. It always amazes me how many fans know all the words to their musical favorite’s songs. Adkins launched right into one of his hits, Big Time.
